Family
There is a beautiful woman in my life. A woman whose judgement had a momentary relapse when she said, “Yes”, to my proposal of marriage. I am grateful for the relapse, for without it, I would be a most misrable man.
There are children in my life, and grandchildren, as well as nieces, cousins, a smattering of brothers-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and assorted relatives through marriage.
The children. A son in his late thirties, successful, with a beautiful wife, and two precious children. My daughter recently got married to a great guy. Currently there are no children, but they do have a dog, who to them, is a handful of child.
I have another son, a newer son, whom I did not know since birth, but who has become my son through adoption. He is a teenager, and is going through some very challenging times. If any of you have teenagers, you know of what I speak.
My other daughter, who falls in the same category as my teenage son, is beautiful, precocious, and the apple of my eye. Seeing her, and listening to her, raises the Nature or Nurture question. Although she is not of my blood, she could not possibly be anymore my daughter than she is.
I will stop with my grandchildren who are the best grandchildren upon the face of this earth. There is one of each, a girl and a boy. Each time I hear my name, “Pop-Pop” being uttered, my heart swells with love.
